2014 End of The Year Book Survey

Sooo, it has come to my attention that 2014 is almost to an end, which is why I decided to do the 2014 End of the Year Book Survey, made by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner! However, since I started to read YA in March and I haven't read a lot of amazing books yet (and by my luck I just tend to read so many mediocre books), I'm going to be skipping a few questions. Just a few.

One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne… it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Searching for a Co-blogger!

Hi guys! So I have a bit of a problem here. It's been more than a month of school and I feel like I'm unable to keep up with blogging.

And it's only Grade 8 right now...I wonder what it'll be like in high school...

Here are my options. I can either:

  1. Fail school
  2. Quit blogging
  3. Disappear all the time
  4. Get co-bloggers

And so after pondering about my options, I decided that I actually liked option four.

I'd like to find 1-2 individuals (depending on the quality of the applications) who are as enthusiastic, loves reading, and fangirls/fanboys about books as much as we do. You don't have to have a blog to be applicable, but I would like to find someone who has written reviews before, has read book blogs before, who knows how to format posts, and most importantly, run a blog.

Stacking the Shelves #6

Stacking The Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews in which book bloggers share the recent books they added to their shelves, borrowed from a friend or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Guys. I haven't done a Stacking the Shelves since....March (6 MONTHS OH MY GOD). I literally had to go spend 1 minute searching through my posts to see which number it was and copy paste the image. Like wow. I can't believe it's been half a year already! Let's see if I still remember how to do this.

Midnight Thoughts: Fanfictions

Today I'm going to be introducing a new feature on the blog, called 'Midnight Thoughts'! I've been wanting to introduce this discussion meme for quite a while now but I just haven't had the chance to sit down and write, and even when I do post on the blog, they are mainly reviews.

Midnight Thoughts is a discussion meme where I choose a topic and give my opinions on the topic. Topics are just whatever that comes to mind and this post has no schedule or whatsoever. Sometimes they might turn into rants :) Want to submit a specific topic for me to talk about? Fill out a short form here!

Back to Blogging & Important News!

Hello everyone!

School has started! (boo :( )  How has all of your summers been? It's been so many weeks since my last post that I've almost forgotten that I still have a blog to run, not to mention remembering coding to redesign the blog! I've been in Vancouver for a couple of days, then in China for the past few weeks visiting relatives and eating great dim sum...lots. However, as great as the food in China can be, I am so very glad to be back!

My flight had actually arrived to Canada on the 25th, though jet lag has been driving me crazy for the past couple of days and I just didn't have the energy to start writing posts just yet. Speaking of planes, if there is one thing that you guys have to know about me, I absolutely hate travelling by plane. There's a long list of what annoys me on airplanes (including their blankets and sitting for 17 hours) but the worst thing about air travel for me is: airplane food. Just saying airplane food makes me think of that smell all over again....

Fangirling & Waiting on Wednesday: City of Heavenly Fire - Cassandra Clare

Hi guys! Today's a Wednesday which means....It's time to do my very first Waiting on Wednesday! Except in this post I'm going to be screaming for CoHF instead of Waiting which is why I've altered the title slightly. Waiting on Wednesday is a book meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine where you state all the releases that you are anticipating. So why am I doing a WoW now? I just cannot contain my excitement for CoHF (the last book of TMI) to be released in 5 days and I fear that I might explode if I just don't pour out my fandomness in a post. 5 DAYS!! Though I could have easily just done a random fangirling post on CoHF but I thought it'd be nice to try this meme out for the first time :) Anyways, here we go! And do tell me what you think :D

Title: City of Heavenly Fire
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publisher: Margret K. McElderly
Publication Date: May 27, 2014
Genre(s): Fantasy, Romance, Paranormal, YA

In the long-awaited conclusion to the acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Clary and her friends fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary's own brother.
Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter. Bearing the Dark Cup, he transforms Shadowhunters into creatures out of nightmare, tearing apart families and lovers as the ranks of his endarkened army swell.
The embattled Shadowhunters withdraw to Idris—but not even the famed demon towers of Alicante can keep Sebastian at bay. And with the Nephilim trapped in Idris, who will guard the world against demons?
When one of the greatest betrayals the Nephilim have ever known is revealed, Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec must flee — even if their journey takes them deep into the demon realms, where no Shadowhunter has set foot before, and from which no human being has ever returned . . .
Love will be sacrificed and lives lost in the terrible battle for the fate of the world in the thrilling final installment of the classic urban fantasy series The Mortal Instruments!

Okay, I can't do this anymore. Please excuse me for the moment while I scream for TMI again.

I've recently fell in love with this series and only a few days ago, I finished City of Lost Souls. I was amazed at how much it made me not want but NEED CoHF! CoLS is probably my favourite book in the series so far. There's so much action in it, compared to the rest of the series! Random fact: Did you know that CoHF is 762 pages?!?

I keep on forgetting that this is a WoW, not a review, so just bear with me :) and do forgive me if I leak any spoilers which I will try my best not to. Anyways, I love CoLS. I even started to feel sympathetic for the 'bad guy', Sebastian/Jonathan, and I've made up my mind.

I don't want him to die.

Anyone else feel this way? It's so weird, I actually like Sebastian a TINY bit more than Jace...

I won't tell you the whole story WHY now but I will in my review that I solemnly swear will come either Saturday or Sunday :D and I'm pretty sure the entire review will be about why I love Sebastian. Now before you post comments like "HOW THE SHIAT IS THAT POSSIBLE?" all I have to say is, its surprising for me as well ;) and

I've actually started to read TMI fanfictions :D I never really have been a fan of fanfictions because some of them suck bs, but I just needed to have my hands on something TMI related. And I've also been going through some CoHF snippets and I thought I'd share some interesting snippets:
“Oh, good. For a second there I was worried there was going to be an actual plan with, like, steps we couldfollow. You know, something reassuring.”
— Isabelle
“Okayyyyy,” Isabelle said in a low voice, “When did Brother Zachariah get hot?”
A parabatai. Like he was. And Jace knew, too, what that faded rune meant: a parabatai whose other half was dead. He felt his sympathy leap toward Brother Zachariah, as he imagined himself without Alec, with only that faded rune to remind him where once he had been bonded to someone who knew all the best and worst parts of his soul.
Simon's Sacrifice

“No killing,” Jordan said. “We’re trying to make you feel peaceful, so you don’t go up in flames. Blood, killing, war, those are all non-peaceful things. Isn’t there anything else you like? Rainforests? Chirping birds?”
“Weapons,” said Jace. “I like weapons.”
“I’m starting to think we have a problematic issue of personal philosophy here.”
Jace leaned forward, his palms flat on the ground. “I’m a warrior,” he said. “I was brought up as a warrior. I didn’t have toys, I had weapons. I slept with a wooden sword until I was five. My first books were medieval demonologies with illuminated pages. The first songs I learned were chants to banish demons. I know what brings me peace, and it isn’t sandy beaches or chirping birds in rainforests. I want a weapon in my hand and a strategy to win.”
Jordan looked at him levelly. “So you’re saying that what brings you peace … is war.”
“Now you get it.”

“We shouldn’t,” protested Isabelle. “The Clave has a plan.”
“The Clave has the collective intelligence of a pineapple,” said Jace.
Alec blinked up at them. “Jace is right.”
Isabelle turned on her brother. “What do you know? You weren’t even paying attention.”
“I was,” Alec said, injured. “I said Jace was right.”
“Yeah, but there’s like a 90% chance of me being right most of the time, so that’s not proof you were listening,” said Jace. “That’s just a good guess.”
MY FAVE (partially because of feels towards Sebastian) :

His eyes shone when he looked at her, green as spring grass.
He has always had green eyes, said the voice in her head. People often marvel at how much alike you are, he and your mother and yourself. His name is Jonathan and he is your brother; he has always protected you.
Somewhere in the back of Clary’s mind she saw black eyes and whip marks, but she didn’t know why. He’s your brother. He’s your brother, and he’s always taken care of you.

And now. PICTURE SPOILERS! *just click on image to enlarge*

Anyways if you already haven't heard, Cassie said that 5 people that we know of are going to die + 1 main character in CoHF. I was thinking about if I had to choose 6 people to die in TMI, who would it be. I came up with a list (I don't mean any offence to those characters, it's just that if I HAD TO CHOOSE, these are the people I'd rather die than the others) .
  1. Maryse
  2. Raphael
  3. Camille
  4. Maia
  5. Jordan
As for the main character who will die, we all know that Cassie can't kill Clary because the main character almost never dies. Or Jace (or else we'd all go rage and try to kill her, lol) which leaves us with Izzy, Alec, Magus or Simon. I don't even want to guess. JUST ANYONE BUT SIMON! He's the kind of friend we all want, and plus, I really stared to love him in CoLS.

I've already pre-ordered two copies of CoHF and I might even be giving one away ;) I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THE ENTIRE SERIES IS GOING TO END IN JUST 5 DAYS FROM NOW! AGH, I don't know what to think. Half of my brain is like: CoHF Y U NO COME FASTER, and then the other half is afraid to read it in fear of either Magnus, Izzy, Alec or Simon dying and the entire series will be over after CoHF! Lol I've said that already, but whatever. I'm probably going to spend the entire day and night reading CoHF then the next morning bawling my eyes out. AHHH Where will all the TMI fandom go? Someone needs to set up a support group for the TMI fandom...

*cries in a corner* Alright. I'm back now.

So, my question to readers of TMI. What do you think about CoHF, and who do you think will die?

I'd love to hear what you think about this post! :)

Review: Doon by Carey Cory and Lorie Langdon

Title: Doon

Series: Doon Novels (#1)
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance
Publication Date: August 30, 2013
Publisher: Zondervan

Veronica doesn't think she's going crazy. But why can't anyone else see the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes? When her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland, Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind for a few months.
But the Scottish countryside holds other plans.
Not only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from Mackenna's great aunt—and when the girls test the instructions Aunt Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that defies explanation. Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica's daydreams. But Doon has a dark underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they've longed for...or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.

A Hiatus? :(

So you may have noticed that I really haven't been around much or posting something everyday like I used to and I feel like I owe everyone an apology and an explanation.

The truth is, I've been extremely busy lately and so, I have come to a final decision.

I'm going to be taking a hiatus.

Reason being, it's because life is busy. I can't really keep up the school work, blogging and in addition to the three things listed above, I still have a HUGE stack of books from review requests from January
that I have yet not read. Not to mention that I haven't even read Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead yet or finished Asunder by Jodi Meadows OR even STARTED on City of Lost Souls. And I bought those books in January as well. I know this shouldn't even be POSSIBLE, as a TMI 'fan'. I feel like I'm not one anymore because of it anymore. Blog, why are you doing this to me?

During my hiatus, I will be redesigning Fictionally Obsessed. I know that I've redesigned the blog 4 times already and I know that I haven't been able to make up my mind. It's just that I have decided to make my blog less feminine and more gender neutral.

I feel like it's all too much for me at a time, and though I still freaking love blogging and reading, I'm going to be taking a break. Meaning that I will still be checking the blog for comments daily and posting Feature Fridays and reviews, but I just won't be blogging and posting something everyday like I did before. I still have tons of ideas that have been bouncing in my head and a new original feature called Midnight Thoughts I will be introducing when I get back, so I hope that you'll stay will me even though I won't be posting as much.

And finally, I'm sorry. I really should have been interacting with you guys more and commenting your blogs, and it feels like I'm just not there. I hope you'll understand my decision and give me time to return to my old blogging obsessed self. I don't even know if I ever will be able to return to that stage ever again.

The Liebster Award

Hi everyone!

So today, I'm going to be talking about 'The Liebster Award! I had no idea what this was until like a month ago, but anyways, 'The Liebster Award' is all about getting to know bloggers and their blogs who have less than 200 followers. There's no actual award and it's kind of a Pass it On, kind of thing, but I think it's a great way to get to know new bloggers and their blogs! I was actually nominated for this award twice, one time from Faith from Book Nook 96 and Stephanie from Her Reviews of Books Movies and Everything, so I have no idea who's questions to answer! I guess I'll be answering 5 questions from each blogger then! What are the questions I'm talking about? Well read the rules below!  I'm so excited to be a nominee and participate in this fangirl-tastic award! *squeal*

Tessa Gray should be happy -- aren't all brides happy? Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begin to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan.
He needs Tessa.
Charlotte Branwell, head of the Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are engaged, Will is still in love with her.
The last words of a dying Shadowhunter provide the clue that might lead Tessa and her friends to Mortmain. But their small group cannot stand alone, and the powerful Consul doubts that Mortmain is coming. Deserted by allies, the Shadowhunters find themselves trapped when Mortmain seizes the medicine that keeps Jem alive. With his best friend at death's door, Will must risk everything to save the girl they both love.
To buy Will time, the warlock Magnus Bane joins with Henry Branwell to create a device that could help defeat Mortmain. As they all work to save Tessa and the future of the Shadowhunters that resides with her, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself -- for in the discovery of her own nature, Tessa could become more powerful than she ever dreamed possible. But can a lone girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?
Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment, and the tangled thread of love and loss intertwine as the Shadowhunters are pushed to the very brink of destruction in the breathtaking conclusion of The Infernal Devices trilogy.
