ARC Review: Guarding Angel by S.L. Saboviec

When I first did the cover reveal for Guarding Angel and spent minutes just staring at the amazing cover and reading the synopsis, I knew that it was a book that I just had to get my hands on. 

Guardian Angel is about these angels who have humans (called their Wards in the book) to not protect, but influence the way they think to lead them on the right path. The plot of Guarding Angel is actually quite complex, as it's not only focusing on the main character, but there are lots of things happening around the Angels as well. The book is written from the the Guardian Angel, Enael's perspective. Enael is an angel that struggles with connecting with her Wards every time, and she tries to figure out why and how to get her Wards to listen to her.

But when I actually started reading it, it wasn't as good as expected, but still alright. And so, I kept on reading.

Guarding Angel has a complex plot. Things were confusing at first in the beginning, but once you got over the first few chapters, things started to clear up a lot more and the book got a bit more enjoyable, if you stuck around for that long. In this book, it kind of felt that there were three plots happening at the same time, such as how Enael has THREE Wards in the book, and then the last part was this really confusing war happening because Yasava wanted to take over the world and blah blah blah, so typical for the evil person. Actually, all the characters kind of sucked. And the ending was kind of bad. It just kind of left the story there, like a cliffhanger badly written.

The world building was good enough. It seemed real, that you could actually image these angels that are protecting you and influencing your thoughts. As for the characters, it was kind of the opposite. I couldn't really relate to any of the characters at all. They seemed so bland and I just couldn't connect. I felt that Enael's character was boring and I just didn't really like Kaspen. The romance between them also felt like it was not that believable, or in other words, forced.

I also found this book a bit boring at times. As much as I do enjoy romance and the paranormal genre, I like books that have a lot of action and suspense. For example, there are a lot of times where Enael just rambles on and on about her duties, how hot Kaspen is and all that.

You could say that I'm very biased, because comparing Guarding Angel to other angel and demon books, Guarding Angel just didn't exactly achieve what I was looking for.
