I'm very conflicted by this book. I SHOULD hate it, but I was completely hooked. I SHOULD give it a 3 stars, but I want to give it a 4 or 5.

Uninvited got me hooked when it shouldn't have.

THE BAD.

There was only one thing and one thing only that irked me so much and it was this one thing that made me so confused on what to rate this book.

Davy.

Davy was the biggest bitchy brat ever in the beginning of the book. I can't stress that out enough. She was so spoiled, childish, and so utterly disgusting and stupid. She kept on running to Sean The Badass Bad Boy Hottie EVERY SINGLE FRICKIN' TIME she ran into something.

Let me further explain. Every single freaking time she runs into something she doesn't want to deal with she calls Sean. Or Sean, being the good guy he is, runs to Davy.

The first sentence of the book is "I always knew I was different.". *rolls eyes* Like COME ON. I hate that. I hate it I hate it I hate it. I hate it when characters always think they're the special one. I hate it when they think they're sooo perfect. Like we all know that something special is going to happen to the main character (obviously) but COME ON. They don't need to say it out loud and repeat it OVER and OVER and OVER again.

However, eventually, Davy toughened up after the 40% and grew up into a mature woman who was not a bitchy spoiled brat and she was actually average throughout the rest of the book. About damn time.

THE GOOD. 

The awesomeness I found in this book was: the plot, the pacing, the everything but the Davy.

The plot was pretty good. This book is set in a dystopian world where there's a gene called HTS, aka "the kill gene", meaning that HTS gene carriers will kill someone in their lives, and they can't control it. This book focuses on Davy, who's HTS test results come back positive that she's a carrier, even though she's the most average, non-violent teenage girl. *rolls eyes at Davy*

This book was so dark and thrilling that I just couldn't resist...Everything was just so well pieced together and written and it was a pretty enjoyable read. It was fast paced which was why it was easy for me to just read the night away. This is the kind of book for readers that don't like books that are descriptive and slow, which I am one of those readers.

While I did not like the main character in Uninvited, I loved the rest of the book. Some mentionable characters are Sean O'Rouke, Davy's boyfriend.

Sean was an amazing character. I couldn't help but swoon for him at some parts! He was just so adorable! At first he was all acting badass and tough but when he and Davy got together, that guy really softened up and he was just so sweet and the romance between Davy and Sean was just so much, I was practically yelling my head of to just get them to kiss already!! And when they finally did...it was perfect. Just perfect.

While I loved the ideas in Uninvited, this book still has things to improve on, such as Davy. (Key word: DAVY.) As much as I loved the plot and the rest of the characters in the story, the main character is still one of the most important things of the book, especially if you're reading in first person, because it was just SO FRUSTRATING at times!

I would say that Uninvited is a pretty good, thrilling dystopian novel out of all the dystopias I've read, and that I would recommend this book if you're looking for a good dystopian novel AND you are fine with reading from a not so great main character's POV. But if we were talking about just a novel regardless of its genres but it's greatness, Uninvited is the kind of book you'd pick up on a rainy day, or you're looking for decent reading material when you're bored. However, I think this book was alright overall (3.5 stars), and now that Davy's more mature in the next book, I can't wait to see more of Sean and what happens in Unleashed, Uninvited #2!
