2014 End of The Year Book Survey

Sooo, it has come to my attention that 2014 is almost to an end, which is why I decided to do the 2014 End of the Year Book Survey, made by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner! However, since I started to read YA in March and I haven't read a lot of amazing books yet (and by my luck I just tend to read so many mediocre books), I'm going to be skipping a few questions. Just a few.

Number of Books Read: 106
Number of Re-Reads: 5
Genre You Read From The Most: Fantasy (with a touch of Romance)

Best Book You Read In 2014?

I myself am surprise that I put The Winner's Curse as a Best Book I've Read in 2014 since I finished it only two days before, but it was mind-blowingly amazing. There was so much heartbreak and I just couldn't resist.

Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?

Winterspell by Claire Legrand - Not sure if Winterspell counts, since I'm 60% in and I seriously want to DNF it so badly. I expected an awesome fantasy and immense world building but I got writing that was too descriptive and utterly BORING.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth - I loved Divergent but when I picked up the second book, I was disappointed in Tris's character and how the book turned out in the end :(

Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read in 2014?

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout - *swoons* I never thought the romance would be so unbearable! I was so touched by the ending of this book, I re-read this one 3 times :D

"I lost myself the moment I saw you."

Best series you started in 2014? Best Sequel of 2014? Best Series Ender of 2014?

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Cress by Marissa Meyer
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Favorite new author you discovered in 2014?

Sarah J. Maas! She completely blew me away with the Throne of Glass Series!

Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone?

Such Wicked Intent by Kenneth Oppel - Holy shit guys, this was so scary and suspenseful. And I think I should not have read it during the night *shivers still* though I actually consider it quite good, if only I wasn't so creeped out...

Most action-packed/thrilling/unputdownable book of the year?

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas - I was rapidly flipping the pages one by one, unable to stop. There was always action and there were never any dull moments!

Book You Read In 2014 That You Are Most Likely To Re-Read Next Year?

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare - Maybe the entire series as well. I'm re-reading Clockwork Prince for sure since I went to Montreal for a week and purchased it in French! The entire series definitely had me crying at every part...

Favorite cover of a book you read in 2014?

Asunder by Jodi Meadows - Not that the book is particularly good...but the cover is beautiful! I love how every one of Jodi Meadow's covers follow the template of a girl with a different mask each time.

Most beautifully written book read in 2014?

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas - The writing in Heir of Fire was perfect. It was lyrical, flowing and beautiful.

Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2014?

“The snow fell on her, it fell on him, but Kestrel knew that no single flake could ever touch them both. She didn’t look back when he spoke again. “You don’t, Kestrel, even though the god of lies loves you.”
― Marie Rutkoski, The Winner's Curse

Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2013?

Shortest - Prelude by Nely Cab
Longest - City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Book That Shocked You The Most

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare - Sebastian. That is all.

OTP OF THE YEAR (you will go down with this ship!)

Chaol and Celaena from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas *tears* Their love is so heart-wrenchingly painful!

Favorite Non-Romantic Relationship Of The Year

Hmm...Rowan and Celaena?

Favorite Book You Read in 2014 From An Author You’ve Read Previously

Cress Marissa Meyer - Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles series was the first YA series I stumbled upon, and I still love the books in the series, I was waiting forever to get Cress before it came out.

Newest fictional crush from a book you read in 2014?

Rowan Whitethorn. He is a FRICKING FAE WARRIOR. I need more Rowan, there wasn't enough of him in Heir of Fire!

Best 2014 debut you read?

Red Rising by Pierce Brown - Red Rising was apparently Pierce Brown's first published book out of 6 which are unpublished, which is hard to believe considering the amount of BANG in Red Rising. I've been recommending this book everywhere :D

Book That Put A Smile On Your Face/Was The Most FUN To Read?

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass - The Maxamer moments were so adorable! I had a huge grin on my face during so many parts in the series.

Book That Made You The Most Mad (doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t like it)?

Teardrop by Lauren Kate - I spent $25 dollars on this piece of bs. Nothing happened. We have the most obnoxious main character who only sits there and mourns about her life, a stalker, and I don't think I should continue or else I'm going to be going on another rant. Anyways, don't spend your money on it...

New favorite book blog you discovered in 2014?

There are so many fabulous and amazing book blogs out there, but my absolute favourite book blog would have to be A Perfection Called Books

Favorite review that you wrote in 2014?

Best discussion/non-review post you had on your blog?

Best event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events, memes, etc.)?

I met Marissa Meyer and got my books signed!

Best moment of bookish/blogging life in 2014?

The time where I requested an ARC for Golden Son by Pierce Brown and the publisher said that the book would be on the way (but then I never received it).

Most Popular Post This Year On Your Blog (whether it be by comments or views)?

Interview with Shelena Shorts - It's received 23823 views but not a lot of giveaway entries or comments for some reason which makes me feel a bit suspicious of the page views...

Post You Wished Got A Little More Love?

White Hot Kiss Duo Review - Relatively new post, but go check it out pleaseeee ;)

Best bookish discover (book related sites, book stores, etc.)?

That when I buy books online, they're so much cheaper than buying in-store. Yeah, I didn't have much book buying experience back then, haha.

Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of this year?

Yep! I surpassed my goal for the Goodreads reading challenge with a goal of reading 60 books, and I ended up reading over 100. Though I was lazy and I didn't add all of them to my Goodreads shelf :-\

One Book You Didn’t Get To In 2014 But Will Be Your Number 1 Priority in 2015?

Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley - Rachel @A Perfection Called Books has been nagging me to read it! And I want to, because it revolves around the military, how unique is that?

Book You Are Most Anticipating For 2015 (non-debut)?

The Winner's Crime by Marie Rutkoski - The ending just HAD to have a love triangle in it.

Series Ending/A Sequel You Are Most Anticipating in 2015?

Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout - I need to find out who Layla ends up with!

One Thing You Hope To Accomplish Or Do In Your Reading/Blogging Life In 2015?

I actually have quite a few goals, which include:

- posting everyday or almost everyday
- read a lot more and read more diverse books
- comment on more blogs
- hopefully receive more comments

Share some of your goals and reads in 2014 :)

  5. I STILL NEED TO READ WINNER'S CURSE! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, now I must read it! I just started reading Throne of Glass a few weeks ago - and it's the best! I loved it so much!! I'm actually okay with both Dorian and Chaol. I can't choose who'll be a better guy for Celaena. And I still need to read Crown of Midnight. I'm so desperate to get it already. I heard it was better than the first one.

Wow you read 100+ books! Congrats! :D I can't even manage to do that, but this year I challenged myself to give that one a try! :)

  7. The Winner's Curse seems to be topping everyone's lists, I know it topped mine! COME ON WINNER'S CRIME!

I think that Cress is the best book in the Lunar Chronicles series thus so far. Can you believe that Fairest comes out tomorrow????
