Author Interview + Giveaway: Princess of Valendria by Mary Waibel

Hello guys!

Today I am going to feature Mary Waibel on Fictionally Obsessed, author of the  the Princess of Valendria series. If you haven't heard of the series before, and you'd like to read it, Mary has been kind enough to donate the series to one lucky person! I have to say that the blurb sounds very interesting!

Novel Info:

Genre(s): Fantasy, Adventure, Romance, Young Adult
Publication Date: April 13, 2013
Series: Princess of Valendria (#1)

"A reverse Sleeping Beauty tale where the princess goes on the quest to save the prince."
Princess Kaylee has never had to fight for anything. Her entire life has been arranged, even her marriage. But when Prince Devlin falls under an enchantment, she finds she is willing to do anything to save him, even if it means fighting a dragon.

Devlin's own sister, Princess Arabella, is behind the deadly plot. She wants the throne and will use any means necessary. Her perfect plan unravels, leaving Devlin caught in a
magical sleep that is slowly spreading through the kingdom of Breniera. All Arabella needs to finish her spell and claim the crown is a drop of Kaylee's blood, but obtaining the single drop is proving more difficult than expected.

To save her betrothed, Kaylee embarks on a quest to find an ancient sword and gather a drop of dragon's blood, while trying to stay out of Arabella's traps. But Arabella's traps aren't the only danger. Time is everything. For once the last inhabitant of the kingdom falls asleep, the spell will be sealed, and not even true love's kiss will break it.

Q: Describe yourself in one word.
Busy.

Q: In 5 words, tell us what the Princess of Valendria series is about.
Reverse Fairytales with Kick-ass Princesses

Q: Do you have a specific routine you follow every time you write?
Well, it seems to depend on the series. With some I have an idea and just write, others I do a lot of mental planning first, and some I outline and or write a synopsis to follow. I'm not sure which way I like best yet :-)

Q: What's your favourite fairytale and which fairytale retelling you've written is your favourite?
I absolutely love CINDERELLA (especially the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical), however my favorite in my series is DIFFERENT KIND OF KNIGHT, and ironically it isn't a twist on any fairytale.

Q: How do you feel about love triangles? Do you like them in books or do they frustrate you?
I like love triangles that are well done, [read: where both men really like/love the girl, and she really likes/loves them both] but a lot of them aren't written this way. I don't feel committed to both guys, and I don't feel the girl is either (I never got the love triangle in HUNGER GAMES- to me, Katniss didn't really care for either guy, but that could just be me.)

Now, FAERY MARKED, releasing this summer from BookFish Books, has 2 guys and a girl, but it isn't a love triangle (at least I don't see it as one, and didn't intend it to be :-) ). in it, and they both like the girl, and she cares for each of them, but it isn't a love triangle (and I didn't write it as one).

So, I don't mind love triangles, but I'm good without them too!

Q: Something you can't live without?
Chocolate :-)

This or that:

Q: Ice cream or Chocolate?
Chocolate (see above!)

Q: Tea or Coffee?

Both- depending on my mood

Q: Twitter or Facebook?
I use both, but prefer Twitter. Maybe because it feels more like a conversation.

Q: Movies or TV shows?
Both- depending on my time and my mood.

Q: Rain or Snow?
I love snow. I really do. And we had a lot this year, and I have to confess I'm tired of snow and glad we've moved on to rain. When I was younger I hated thunderstorms, but now, I've kind of grown to like them. So, I guess this is a long way of saying both :-)

  2. Wow, this book sounds interesting! I can't participate in the giveaway because I'm afraid that murderer will find a way into my account, find my address, and kill me in the middle of the night :(
But I will definitely read it if I can find it!
